Hart Middle School
Packaging food to feed those in need
Hart Middle School is hosting a food packaging event. Students will have the
opportunity to package 20,000 meals that will go to feed starving children around the world.
Kids Coalition Against Hunger is a Michigan based 501(c)(3) that coordinates packaging events throughout the eastern half of the United States, feeding children around the world and in local communities. KCAH asks that participants make a donation to the event as well as register.
Student volunteers will package the ingredients into 6 serving rations (enough for the average family) which are boxed ready for distribution locally and globally. 1/3 will be donated to a local food bank, 1/3 will be shipped to an international community and the final 1/3 will be stored domestically to be used during national disasters.
It is a very rewarding family-friendly based event that can and does change the lives of both participants and recipients.
Every meal cost 28 cents to produce. Every bag contains 6 adult servings at $1.68 per bag.
